Calm before the storm

Everyone is having a bit of a relax at the moment after almost burning ourselves out frantically marking maps and doing our best to sort the complicated race logistics.

Anyway no point in worrying now as all the boxes have been handed into the race officials for transporting to the transitions.

Basically the course is something like this:

Leg 1 - Dunk Island Trek/Snorkel/Raft 25km

Leg 2 - Mountain Bike 100km

Leg 3 - Rafting the Tully Trek 9km/Raft 10km (note dark zone before this leg so, most teams will start this leg together)

Leg 4 - Misty Mountains Trek 47km

Lag 5 - Bicentennial Trail MTB 130km/10km Orienteering

Leg 6 - Wheelbarrow Way Wheelbarrow push (with kayaks and kayaking gear) 20km

Leg 7 - The Walsh Kayak 70 km (down shallow stream)

Leg 8 - Chillagoe Station Trek 60 km (described as "tiger country", and the treking challenge of a lifetime.  Nav looks super tough, not a single track on the map).

Leg 9 - MTB 130km

Leg 10 Lake Tinaroo Kayak 15km

Lag 11 Danbulla / Dinden National Parks Trek 60km

Overall impressions from me, the race will basically restart from leg 3 after the dark zone.  The teams who get through leg 8 error free will be doing very well as it is all complex contour detail.  Hope we are not in there at night.
