 | Fleur has been involved in multisport for around ten years, after getting into it accidentally by being talked into the Coast to Coast teams event. After that experience her teammate never got into a kayak or on a kayak again, but Fleur hasn't looked back. She used to combine training with a second life as a sedentary policy advisor in Wellington, but these days can be found in the Christchurch store of R&R sports, selling the products she test on the hills and the trails. Keep the body active and the mind will stay fit as well! |

Where did you grow up?
On a hill country farm near Hawarden, North Canterbury, then dispatched to boarding school in Christchurch
What was your first Adventure race??
Rollos adventure race, Nelson. I had never ridden a bike in the dark, barely seen a compass, and had no idea what I was getting into. Funnily enough, we didn't finish
Little known / unlikely fact about yourself?
ummm, I can use chopsticks left or right handed
What you will do when your knees finally give out?
become an artist, paint the hills instead of running around in them
Occupation?
retired public servant, now working in retail
Worst Adventure racing experience?
getting horribly lost trying to follow a hand drawn map in a sugar cane plantation in the final section of XPD 2007.
Biggest "blow"?
Coast to Coast 2008. Beaten 1km out from the finish line. Ouch.
Favourite Adventure Racing food?
Naturally Good gluten free ginger gem cookies... recommend them to any other gluten free-ers
Best support crew moment?
All support crews are great! But the ones who manage to find hot coffee are the best
Favorite Race?
I've yet to find it. Everyone I do seems better than the last...
